Great book overall, well written and easy to understand. Tons of information and covers a lot of situations from preflight to shutdown. I am a Private Pilot and going for Single Engine Seaplane rating next month. As Burke mentioned a lot of the lessons he writes about are hard learned. After reading the situations that you can get yourself into I am glad that I have some preparation and insight that might help prevent the accidents for me as I begin learning to fly seaplanes.
Great book for introduction into seaplane flying. Very clear illustrations, relatively brief and too the point without any fluff. Incredibly clear in message transmission. As a former instructor with 1200 hours dual given, I highly recommend this if interested in earning your sea wings.

Burke really knows what he is talking about when it comes to seaplane flying. I always enjoy reading his articles in the SPA magazine too. Too bad he never got to be an airline pilot.
Easy read instructional aid
Had more info based on the feel and experience of a flight instructor rather than the dry explainatory style of the FAA publications, really helped on what to expect and prepare for when I transitioned to floats. Lacked much on rules & regulations, emergency procedures, and the like; but thats what the FAA books are for.
