About the Author

Mary Crawford is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Women’s Studies Program at the University of Connecticut. She has taught the psychology of women and gender for twenty-five years, most of that time at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she earned the Trustee’s Achievement Award for lifetime professional accomplishment. She has also held the Jane W. Irwin Chair in Women’s Studies at Hamilton College, served as Distinguished Visiting Teacher/Scholar at Trenton State College at The College of New Jersey, and directed the graduate program in women’s studies at the University of South Carolina. She received her Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Delaware. Professor Crawford is a consulting editor of Psychology of Women Quarterly, an associate editor of Feminism and Psychology, and a Fellow of both the American Psychological Society and the American Psychological Association. Mary Crawford has spoken and written about women’s studies issues for audiences as diverse as the British Psychological Society, Ms. Magazine, and the Oprah Winfrey show. Works she has authored or edited include: Gender and Thought: Psychological Perspectives (1989); Talking Difference: On Gender and Language (1995); Gender Differences and Human Cognition (1997); Coming Into Her Own: Education Successes in Girls and Women (1999) and a special double issue of Psychology of Women Quarterly (1999) on innovative methods for feminist research.

A little dated and renting this edition for a class, but this volume addresses the gender inequality in our society. Excellent reading for the topic.

Surprisingly an easy read, very short book once you get into it and it was quite interesting. This was probably my favorite textbook for a psychology class and it fit the course well

Needed it for a Psychology of Women course. It's an interesting read and its wise to understand that it mainly points out inconsistencies between how men & women are treated. It is a feminist book and some of the examples seem outlandish although true. Read it in an open state of mind. Book was a little beat up but still in kinda good condition. Rental.

This is honestly the best text book I've ever had to use. It's not a hard read and I don't dread it like I do most text books. The information is really interesting and I've truly learned a lot. If this is your subject area I highly recommend buying instead of renting-it is definitely worth the money.

Item came early, and good for the price, but as you can see in the picture the back was cut somehow and the top of the binding split.

I rented this textbook because It was required for class, but I ended up loving the book! The author does a phenomenal job at keeping the reader engaged and describing topics in great detail. She also provides readers with various point of views, expert opinions and true stories.

its for scholl but over all a really great read and very informative on LGBT issues.

i'm not a fan of reading textbooks unless I am forced to for classes, but I found this particular one interesting. So many things I learned about non verbal languages of dominance between genders
